Corpus Christi Montessori School
is a non-profit, dual-language (Spanish-English) charter
school founded on the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori,
an Italian physician and pioneer in child development
from the early 1900s. Maria Montessori observed that
children have a natural desire to learn for themselves
through stimulating hands-on activities that help them
grow into self-motivated, independent learners.
Our Montessori multi–age environments
will eventually include first through eighth grade.
For the 2008-2009 school year, our program will include
1st through 6th grades only. The lower elementary will
consist of 1st through 3rd grade multi-age classrooms.
Upper elementary multi-age classrooms will include 4th
through 6th grade students.
The educational principals developed
by Maria Montessori are at the heart of this unique
dual language program. The combination of the Montessori
and dual language educational methodologies set the
stage for optimum second language development. Two tracks
exist within the school’s initial five-year growth
plan: one Spanish
Enrichment Montessori and one Dual
Immersion Montessori (Spanish/English) track.
